I LOVE Chicago. It is a real city, with taxis, great restaurants, amazing architecture (more interesting than NY City by a lot), lots of people morning, noon. and night, and a city “vibe”.
And it has a beach!
We were very lucky to spend this past weekend in Chicago with friends. Even luckier to stay in our friend’s cousin’s amazing apartment on the 66th floor of a landmark modern skyscraper overlooking the downtown on one side and the lake front on the other.
Of course, when I say “side” that is not quite correct. The apartment has 270 degrees of wall to wall windows, wrapping around. So, there is a sunrise view of the waterfront from the guest room and a sunset view of downtown from the master bedroom. And a panorama of everything in between in the living room, kitchen, dining room, and den, all of which are open to one another. She is an architect, so every square inch of space is beautifully designed, beautifully furnished, modern and elegant. I spent a lot of time admiring the faucets in the four bathrooms.
And then there’s the view . . .
Here’s a look from the living room up Lake Shore Drive.
And it was actually balmy in Chicago this past weekend, while the East Coast got slammed. More amazing.
I love Chicago!
