We leave on another adventure in about ten days. We’re actually starting in a place that we are very familiar with, Lisbon.
Most of the month long trip will be spent in France, but to get there and back, we will spend one day and night in Lisbon, one day and night in Dublin, and one day and night in Chicago!
We’re doing this relatively complicated trip because it makes sense in terms of time, using miles, visiting cities we love (Chicago and Lisbon) and getting inexpensive air fares.
For instance, we fly from Newark to Lisbon on United miles and then the next day from Lisbon to Marseille. We use the last of our TAP (Portuguese Airline) miles for this short hop. And we get the bonus of visiting Lisbon again. In fact, we’re having dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in Lisbon, Largo. Take a look at the interiors. Notice the back wall? Look closely. And the food and wine is delicious too.
From Lisbon we will be in Marseille for three days, staying at a very lovely bed and breakfast, called Les Acanthes. I wish I could show you photos, but the technology won’t allow it. But trust me, it is absolutely charming. You can check it out via the link.
I do a ton of planning for these trips. A TON. Next week, I’ll share my tricks and secrets to planning a month long trip in three countries with 17 of your nearest and dearest, plus two grandchildren. Really, it only took a year . . .
(And for those of you keeping records, this is my 50th post.)
