I’ve been in love with this style for 30+ years. Remember the Pierre Deux fabric and furniture? The French parent company filed for bankruptcy in 2011 and closed all the stores. However, you can still get the fabric through Kravet.
But short of taking a trip to Provence, it is a challenge to find accessories and other items that have those distinctive colors and patterns. Lucky for me I am going to Provence in 2014 for the big 70!
In the meantime, a wonderful source of Provencal fabrics and accessories is the store, Lavender Blue, in the Pacific Palisades section of LA. Pacific Palisades is like a small town in the big city and is a very nice place to shop (and live).
To get in the mood, here are some of my favorite photos of Provencal style. These are taken from a great book, Provence Style: The Art of Home Decoration by Noelle Duck, photos by Christian Sarramon.
As it turns out, the color scheme in my living room (and I didn’t even know I had a color scheme until this moment) is very reminiscent of the colors of Provence. It must be in my subconscience. Take a look.
