I love mid century modern furniture, although I spurned it when I was actually IN the mid century.
I grew up with antique furniture my parents had collected. Some of it quite good, all of it very serviceable. My sister has much of that furniture now. My parents also bought good new furniture when they were just married in the late 1930’s. In either case, all of it has lasted a very long time.
When I first set up house in the 1970’s I essentially recreated the home of my youth. This sofa from Room and Board looks a lot the one I bought in 1972. That sofa stayed in my living room, recovered in a blue and brown tweed, for 37 years.
